Degenerate Ark is an essay that explores Gorda Cay, an island in the Bahamian archipelago, once used by narcotics smugglers, now transformed into ‘Castaway Cay’ by the Walt Disney Company. It won First Prize of The Avery Review Essay Prize in 2019.
